If you’re like us, you spend a few minutes each morning reading up on new tips and tricks on how to boost productivity. We’re productivity junkies and are always looking for more ways on how we can stay organized at work and get more done in less time. This is why we compiled this list of productivity tips we found to be the most helpful and easiest to apply to any given work day.

  1. Create a to-do list

We know you’ve heard this one before, but there’s a reason why it’s a part of every productivity blog. Your day needs structure, and to get through your tasks it’s easiest to make a laundry list of everything you have to do that day or week. By getting everything out in front of you it also helps to prioritize what needs to be done first. Plus, checking things off your list gives you that positive reinforcement that you’re being productive. Seriously, who doesn’t love that feeling of crossing things off your list? Whether it’s through an app or old fashion pen and paper, have a game plan and stick to the plan. Leave some time to be flexible in case you have to add an additional task spur of the moment. With a to do list you won’t have that uncertainty of what to-do next because everything is on that list.

  1. Tackle hardest projects first

The beginning of the day is when you have the most energy and are the most productive. This is why we recommend tackling the hardest projects first. This isn’t always as easy as it sounds. It’s natural to put off hard projects because they are so daunting, but putting them off until the end of the day may turn into putting them off until tomorrow and when tomorrow rolls around you put it off until the very last minute. We’ve all been there before. The next time you have a big project to do, break your project into smaller tasks so the project won’t be as daunting as you think. And by starting the day with your most important work you get to finish the day with your easier and more fun tasks. After following this tip, rinse and repeat throughout the week and you’ll be surprised at how much you get through and how painless those daunting projects actually were.

  1. Take breaks

Probably the most important tip is to schedule breaks throughout the day and to actually take them. We’ve been guilty one too many times of skipping out on necessary breaks and the effects are harmful to our productivity. Make sure you don’t get burned out by scheduling breaks in between tasks to go for a walk or eat a healthy snack. Stepping away from work for a 10 or 15 minute break may even give you a new perspective so when you come back to work you are recharged and focused.

Start applying these three tips to your work day and notice the improvements they make to your productivity.
